Hello, Flutterfly!

Happy Monday, everyone! Hope everyone's weekend was wonderful! I am so excited to be sharing my first Gelly Jr. project with you today!

I am working with the adorable butterfly - "Flutterfly" that is part of the latest product line Gelly Jrs!  I have always loved the color combo of blue and white. And I thought this would be a perfect image to use with that combo!

I really image large images that are easy to 'fussy' cut! And this "Flutterfly" was perfect for just that!  To add dimension to the card, I folded the wings up to add that special 3D effect. To add to the card, I used a variety of butterfly punches to add white butterflies to the card. 

The finishing touches were to stamp the sentiment and attach with foam dots.

Bee Well Card

Hello, everyone! Thank you for stopping by Gel-a-tins today! Can you believe that June is almost over! Eeeekkk where has the month gone! 

Today I am going to share with you a CAS (Clean and Simple) card with you. In the Honey Bear Set, there is this cute beehive and tiny bees. (Too cute!) I designed this simple card that would be perfect to send to someone who is feeling under the weather.

Don't you love the yellow and black color combo! I think it is perfect for the bee stamps! And what better paper to use, right?!

Lily Bee "Joy" Frame

So I have decided to take a small break from cardmaking (but will be back sooon)! My latest craze has been altered items. I cannot wait to show you the projects that I have been working on. But until then, I will show you this one:

Who doesn't love the $1.00 wood frames from Michael's? I have an entire collection that was begging to be altered!  I used the Lily Bee Design Double Dutch collection on this frame. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the bright, bold summer colors in this collection!

Once the frame was painted and covered with paper, I stamped the flower stamp twice. One image was cut-out as a whole flower. The "inside" of the other image was cut-out to add dimension to the flower. After attaching the flowers, I added a bunch of orange brads to form the center of the flower.

I thought about stopping there, but felt the top of the frame needed something. After thinking about it for over a day, I decided to create the banner using Spellbinders Scallop Circles. The diecuts were folded in half and strung them across twine.  The banner needed something else, so I added the letters J-O-Y, using Lily Bee Design Alpha Stickers and punching out circles.

Thinking outside of the box!

Before I show the project, please let me say a quick thank you for stopping by Gel-a-tins today!  I hope you have been enjoying the latest DT projects!
Today, I decided to go away from my comfort zone...far away! I usually make cards, but today I took a stab at making a jewelry piece.  I kept coming across some bamboo beads on clearance at a local craft store. A few days ago I finally decided to buy them. Unsure of what I was going to do, I had them sitting on my counter for a few days.

I started to play around with the Cheveron-tastic stamp set and the idea finally clicked.  I was going to attempt stamping on the beads.

Here is the final outcome: (after going  through several trial-runs)

The first step I completed was to lightly sandpaper the front of the bead. Once the polish was off, I stamped the image using permanent stamping ink.  The first image was stamped in the middle and the remaining stamps went from there. 

To finish of the piece I added a few beads to each side of the pendant.  Viola! Finished!

Oh, Honey Bear!

Hello, everyone! It's Jessi. When I saw the Bear in the "Honey Bear" set, I knew I wanted to some how use flocking powder. After several attempts (have to admit...this was my first time using it), I finally was able to figure out how to make the bear image work. 

Here is my CAS (best kind of cards out there *my opinion*):

Can you tell there is flocking powder? No really sure on how to take a picture to showcase the texture?

To start of the flocking technique, I use a ivory cardstock and rolled a gluestick over an area the size of the stamp.  Quickly taking the flocking powder and pressing it onto the glue.  Allowing the powder to dry, I then stamped the image with brown ink.  Once the ink was dried, the image was cut-out.  Using a small hole punch, I punched 2 holes around the bear's neck and added the twine bow.

To complete the card, I attached the bear to the corner and added the sentiment around the bear.

Hello, June!

Hello, everyone! Thank you for stopping by Gel-a-tins today!Can you believe that it is the first day of June? Already? So that means BBQs, beach fun and Father's Day. Yep, that's right, Father's Day is a few weeks away! So there is no better time to start creating that special card for that special man in your life!

Today I am going to show you another CAS card. I find it had to make masculine cards, so it is easier (for me) to create a clean and simple card.

Using the fanastic Cheveron-tastic Stamp set, here is the card I created:

I was debating on adding a splash of color, but decided against it. Starting with a solid white cardstock, I created a A2 size card. With the leftover cardstock, I decided to create a window-effect (with a circle diecut) to place up top of the front. Before adhering the window, I stamped several lines using a stamp from the Cheveron-tastic set. (I choose to do 1 color, but would look awesome to do in a variety of colors...such as in a rainbow!) I added the simple sentiment to the window cardstock. Using 3D dots, I attached the window to the card.

Make It Count!

Last week, I came across a color challenge that was drop-dead stunning! Black and white with a hint of mustard yellow.  I didn't have time to create a card before the deadline, but finally got around to it!  I also entered this card into the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol (crossing fingers...)! The theme is encouragement.

Here is my latest creation:

I decided to stamp a background of gerber daisies (using two different sizes). I highlighted one using a mustard cardstock.  (A simple button added to the center of the flower.)  I framed the background with mustard and black layers. Stamping the sentiment off-centered and use a corner punch on one corner.

SGC: Dying to Diecut!

I am so excited to reveal the latest challenge at Southern Girls Challenge! Who doesn't love using diecuts? Anyone? Hello...

So I thought this challenge would be too easy for me and wanted to spice it up some for myself. Give myself a challenge! I am mainly a cardmaker! I has done layouts before, but I am not that comfortable with creating them! So I wanted to challenge my self to make a layout using diecuts! Here is my layout:

It might be hard to see, but I used a Spellbinder diecut to cut out the quote. I also used Spellbinders Triangles and pre-made diecut stickers (scallop borders and tab).

I really like the technique of spraying/dripping paint spots throughout the project. However, I should have practiced before I actually did it to the layout. I made a mistake and was disappointed with the outcome. So I used a oval diecut and cut out paper to place over the mistake. I really liked how the layout turned out before that flub. Not so much after. But I learned a lesson and I will now try things out before I put it on the final product! Please note that fellow scrapbook beginners!

Honey, I Miss You!

Thank you for stopping by Gel-a-tins today! Today I would like to share with you a card I created with the Honey Bear Set.

The flowers in the Honey Bear Set were screaming for me to color them. Knowing that I am at beginner's level when it comes to using markers, I opted to break out my chalks and use them to create the flower scene. Using VersaMark Watermark Stamp Pad, I stamped the image 3 times onto cream cardstock. Using one chalk color at a time, I started to color the scene. Once the coloring was complete, I used a large die-cut to create the tag. Adding the "Miss You" sentiment from the Honey Bear Set to finalize the tag.

For the final touches, I used a woodgrain embossing folder to create the backdrop of the card.  Deciding the card needed a pop of a brighter color, I added a strip of a reddish-pink. Topped it off with a button and raffeta ribbon.

Hello, everyone! Thank you for stopping by Gel-a-tins today! This is Jessi here and today is my first post as a Gel-a-tina! **Happy dance**

When I first saw the Honey Bear stamp set, the creative wheel started to turn! So many ideas flowing! Which one to pick? Which one to pick? I couldn't pick just one, but here is the creation I will share today:



Had to have the bear pop off the card!



And I loved the bear too much to use him just once, so I added him to the inside of the card with the rest of the sentiment.



As you will probably learn about me, I like to fussy-cut! So when I saw this cute bear, that was the first thing I did. The rest of the card went from there. To showcase the bear, I used die-cuts to create a "window" for the bear. (Using the scraps for the inside of the card, don't want to waste any paper, right!) Once the papers were attached, it was time for the sentiment! And as the finishing touch, the bottom corners were rounded using a corner punch.

Happy Friday, all!  Wow, what a week it has been! Things are just so crazy around here! But I'm not complaining, it is Friday, which means...IT'S THE WEEKEND!  And even better Mother's Day Weekend! (Yes, I said weekend, because we all know we deserve more than 1 day!)

Using the Sew Cute Collection from My Little Shoebox, I made a simple background for the cardboard sticker dress forms.  To add that little extra something, I added some Trendy Twine around the waist of the forms.

Getting to know Jessica P.

My name is Jessica Pascarella. I have been living in Texas for 10 years. I am a SAHM of 3 wonderful kids. My wonderful husband, is my biggest supporter. I credit my grandmother for introducing me to cardmaking. She has been creating her own cards for years. Due to her inspiration, I jumped in the papercrafting world around 8-9 years ago.  My main love is cards, but have started to expand into scrapbooking and altered items. I'm a Guest Designer at The Paper Variety!!!

What a great day! Wondering why? Two reasons. Today is my birthday AND I am excited about my guest designer spot over at The Paper Variety!  If you have never heard of this challenge blog, you MUST check them out. Their challenges are always awesome!  The current challenge it to make handmade flowers on you papercraft project. Yes, I said project! They accept cards, layouts, altered items, pretty much any project that involves paper!

So when I found out the challenge was to make a handmade flower, I sort of panicked!  I enjoy making flowers. My biggest challenge is the lack of tools that are needed to make those awesome flowers you see everywhere.  I pretty much have a few punches that I can use.

My attempt was to make a flower that looked like the flowers in the paper.  I used a balloon punch for the larger petals and a small circle punch for the smaller petals. I sprayed all the pieces with a little water to make it easier to curl the paper.  Once the paper was somewhat dry I adhered the pieces together to form the flower.
