Trendy Twine Magnetic Bookmark

Gallery Idol Round 2 voting is still open until 1:00PM CST today! Please stop by and cast your vote! To make it easier, I included the widget for voting on the right sidebar ------------------------------------>

Happy Thursday, Trendy Twine friends! I have fun project today! Who loves to read? And who is always looking for a bookmark? (I don't fold the corners, because most come from the library.) So when I saw the idea of a magnetic bookmark, I had to give it a try!

Using a fancy shaped Spellbinder, I cut out the shape twice. I glued the top of the two together, leaving the bottom of the diecuts alone.

I glued too much of the top together. I attached the twine bow at the top of the bookmark. My goal was to have only the word 'relax' showing when the book is covered.

To finish the bookmark, I attached a magnet on the inside of each diecut.

Trendy Twine is spotlighting all their SOLID twines this month, so there is still time to get the solids at the sale price. Check out the Trendy Twine store to see the color selections!
(Psst... I used Totally Grape on this project!)

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Gallery Idol 2014 Round 2 is now open for voting!

Let Round 2 of the Gallery Idol begin! And it is all about Diecutting!

When I found out the theme for this round, I went to Pinterest for some inspiration. It was there that I came across the 'Die Cut Inlay" Technique. I will be honest. I was not familiar with that technique before this search. So the ideas started to come in. I made the first card and LOVED the technique!  I even made went on to make another! (Mainly because I was doubting my creation, but also because I had so much fun!)

So here is the card I submitted for Round 2 (and it was the first card I made using the technique):

To create the 'inlayed' target, I nested all the circle dies and ran them through the machine with two different papers. I separated the circles and re-created the target design alternating the paper.  Other dies used on this card were the heart die and the pendant die.

The finishing touches included the sentiment (made with both stamps and stickers). Wood veneers are attached using twine.

I truly appreciate you visiting my blog. I hope you will take a look at the other 19 talented designers! You can take a look at all the entries HERE. Please take the time to vote for your favorite!

Have a great day!

Pinch Me...Gallery Idol Top 20!!!

It's Friday! And a holiday weekend! Does it get any better?

I am super excited to share some wonderful news I received this morning! Our you a fan of Papercraft & Scrapbooking Magazine? (If not, check out their website and it won't be long before you become a fan!) Each year they hold a contest card 'Gallery Idol'. Similar to American Idol, with a number of rounds until they eventually crown a winner. So I decided to give it a try this year. The first round theme was Washi Tape. (A craft supply that I do not use very often.)

Over 200 designers submitted their cards and the top 20 were announced this morning! I am still in complete shock that my name is on that list!!! Check out the lucky 20 talented designers HERE. You will not be sorry, they are all very inspiring!

So here is my card I created using Washi Tape:

As you can see, I decided to make a washi banner. Not very original, so I tried to find a unique use for the washi tape. After several attempts (and disasters), I decided to use the tape as a masking agent and LOVED how it made the sentiment POP.

I used the following supplies on this card:

Stamps: Winnie & Walter Stamps - The Big, The Bold and You
Twine: Trendy Twine - Totally White
Ink: Assorted ColorBox Brights and Memento Tuxedo Black

So my task for the next couple of days is to make a card with the Round 2 theme - die-cutting! I hope you come back on Monday when the voting begins!!!

Have a wonderful and safe weekend!
