Hey, Sugar!

Hello, MarkerPOP friends! As Halloween/Fall décor is starting to fill the stores, I have noticed a growing trend with Sugar Skulls. The Day of the Dead décor is seen everywhere! And I don't know about you, but I love the bright, bold colors the décor includes. So when I saw the Sugar Skulls stamp set from Hero Arts, I knew that I needed to get my hands on it!!

So today, I am sharing my first card (I have so many ideas for this set, that I know there will be more!), using the Hero Arts Sugar Skulls stamp set and ZIG Clean Color markers:

The first step I took making this card, was stamping the skulls down the edge of watercolor cardstock. I used the masking technique while stamping the skulls. I used a dark gray ZIG around edges of the skulls and spread the color using water. I really enjoyed how this made the white of the cardstock pop where the skulls were stamped.

Now it was time to color in the faces. The stamp set includes a few different layered stamps with designs. I used the layered stamps on the faces and colored in using bright and bold ZIG colors. (I did not use water on these colors.) I wanted to add a few splashes of paint on the card, so I placed a strip of paper to cover the skulls and splattered a few spots around the card. To finish the card, the sentiment is stamped in black ink.

The following ZIGs were used on today's card:
010, 022, 027, 031, 041, 052, 070, 080, 095

You're Absolutely Fabulous

Hello, MarkerPOP friends! Today I am sharing a card using one of the New Hero Arts stamp set. When I first saw this set, I knew that I needed to get my hands on it! When I was much younger, maybe even now, I loved playing with paper dolls. The Stamp & Cut - Dress Up stamp set brought back some memories!

I decided to pair up this super cute stamp set and the fabulous Chasing Dreams paper pad.

Along with the stamp set, there are three skirt dies. I Iove the skirt die that you fold to make it pop off the card. I used that die on a fun print from the paper pad. I decided to paper piece the top by stamping the image onto another print and cutting it out by hand.

Time to piece the card together! First, I stamped the legs onto white cardstock. I aligned the skirt up with the legs to help with the placement of the top of the body stamp. Once the image was stamped, I glued in the paper-pieced shirt. The hair and skin portions of the image are colored into with Chameleon markers. To finish the girl image, I used pink NUVO enamel drops to color in the ponytail holder, necklace, and shoes. The simple sentiment is stamped on the corner of the cardstock panel. The panel is then attached to a fun print.

The following Chameleon markers were used on today's card: NU0, NU1, NU3, BR4, BR5

CHA is held once a year and it is a trade show for craft companies of all genres to show off their latest products. I was lucky enough to be able to attend the show last year and left with so much inspiration! I am looking forward to seeing what comes from this year's show!

There is a CHA 2017 section in the MarkerPOP store. This is the place to go to see some of the products being shown at the show and are making their way to the store. We thought it would be fun to show you some of the favorites we believe would be awesome to work with!

I have a little girl, so this stamp set will be perfect for scrapbook layouts for Halloween, birthday invitations, or even making a scene for her to color in!

Succulent Thank You

Hello, MarkerPOP friends! As we are getting closer to the holiday, my need for Thank You cards are growing. I try to get some done before the holidays, just so I do not have to make as many after.

Today I am using some cute Hero Arts stamps to create this card:

I started a few of the succulents images onto some watercolor cardstock. The images were stamped in a light color, so the outlines could be covered once they are colored in using Zig Clean Color Markers. The images are cut out and set aside. The bowl image is stamped and embossed in gold.

The pieces are arranged and attached to a fun print. The panel is added to a few different layers of prints. The sentiment is stamped and embossed in gold onto a piece of black cardstock.

Please stop by the MarkerPOP blog for a list of supplies used on today's card.

Isn't Watercoloring FUN!!!???

So a few weeks ago, I submitted a handful or so of cards to a World Cardmaking Day Contest. Sadly, I didn't win! (However, one of my cards was chosen as an Honorable Mention!) But the good news... I can start showing some of the cards!

The card below was one of my favorite that I sent in!

Who doesn't love messing around with watercolors?! I love how it is perfectly OK to make a mistake and make it look like it was on purpose! The first step was to stamp and emboss the image (Delicate Blooms by Hero Arts) in white. Once the image was dry, it was time to watercolor!

I added a simple sentiment (from the Red & Goldie stamp set by Avery Elle) stamped in black. The last step was to create the card mat and attach to the card base!

Thank you for stopping by today! Check back soon for my of my WCMD creations! Including my 'Honorable Mention'!
